We at Mashindo Events are committed to giving back to the communities from which we came.  A percentage of sales from each event will be donated to local charities and causes.  If you know of a cause which deserves our attention, please contact us.  Also, if you would like to send an additional donation for the charities, and communities, please let us know.  Historically, the members of Mashindo Events have actively participated in the following causes:

  • National AIDS Walk - A 5K fundraising walk benefiting and produced by the Whitman-Walker Clinic. The Whitman-Walker Clinic is a non-profit community based health organization comprised of volunteers and staff who provide dependable, high quality, comprehensive, and accessible health care to those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.
  • Relay for Life - A fun-filled 24 hour event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
  • Niamoja - Community service organization teaching school age African American children about their heritage and the importance of having priorities in life.
  • Boys & Girls Club of America - Community outreach program that inspires and enables all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
  • Interact - Interact is a private, non-profit, United Way agency that provides safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault.
  • March of Dimes - Their mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. They carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives.
  • AACAA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is committed to promoting HIV/AIDS prevention among communities of color.  AACAA conducts meaningful direct outreach to local schools, churches and community groups.  In addition, they lead street outreach efforts in certain targeted neighborhoods, communities and shopping strips located in areas throughout the metropolitan region.
  • House of Ruth serves women, children and families in the nation's capital who are facing the most severe problems with the fewest resources. Driving the challenges in their lives (homelessness, domestic violence, mental health problems, addiction, poverty) is the repeated, sustained trauma of countless experiences of abuse, beginning in childhood and persisting to the present. House of Ruth develops an effective therapeutic relationship with each person. The staff builds clearly defined, goal-oriented, professional and positive relationships with the women and children.
